Octopusbot: Making waves in the grain markets

Picture a world where farmers no longer lose sleep over the price of grain.

Where small players in the grain industry stand on equal footing with the giants, and where AI technology works to secure fair profits for hard-working producers.

That’s the vision driving Octopusbot, an AgTech startup founded by Carolina Ferreira, and one of our inspiring residents at Stone & Chalk.

Tell us a bit about you and Octopusbot.

I'm Carolina Ferreira, the founder of Octopusbot, and I am passionate about technology and solving complex problems.

With over 15 years of experience in leadership roles, and implementing cutting-edge technologies for large corporations, I have honed my skills in delivering solutions that drive organisational change and efficiency.

However, I felt a deep desire to create something new that could have a broader impact on people's lives, which led me to my entrepreneurial journey.

How did you get started?

At Octopusbot, we are focused on leveraging technology to create innovative solutions in a market niche that has been overlooked by the mainstream - grain markets.

Coming from a long lineage of farmers and spending summers at my grandfather's farm, I experienced firsthand the challenges he faced in the grain markets, where price volatility due to weather conditions and other unpredictable factors often resulted in inadequate compensation for his crops.

I was determined to address this issue and provide small players in the market with access to highly accurate information that could help them maximise and protect their profits.

What are some of your recent accomplishments?

Our approach at Octopusbot is to use advanced AI technology to provide actionable insights to grain market participants, empowering them to make informed decisions.

Our recent accomplishments speak to our momentum and success, including a 40% increase in our customer base last month.

We also won the prestigious IWD Stone & Chalk Scholarship, and were selected for the NSW Going Global Program 2023 AgTech to the U.K.

What's next for Octopusbot

Looking ahead, we are focused on growing our customer base, getting ready for investment, and expanding our presence into larger markets like the USA, Europe, and Asia.

Stone & Chalk has been instrumental in supporting us on our journey, providing us with valuable resources and opportunities to secure the investment we need to fuel our growth.

We are excited about the future of Octopusbot and how our AI technology can transform the grain markets, and we would love to have you join us on this exciting journey.

Together, we can make a positive impact on the agriculture industry and beyond.
