Did you know only 17% of the cyber security workforce identify as female?

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month. We're pleased to take this opportunity to spotlight the recipients of our AWSN (Australian Women in Security Network) x Stone & Chalk Scholarships, which champions the next generation of female cybersecurity leaders.

Established to increased growth and recognition in the workforce, these scholarships are empowering female founders and startups to make their mark on the cyber industry.

By providing the resources and support they need, we’re helping them break barriers, drive innovation, and create lasting impact in cybersecurity.

The importance of Cybersecurity Awareness Month

October serves as a reminder for businesses to refocus on cybersecurity, but more than that, it's a call to invest in developing the talent needed to address evolving cyber threats.

Our collaboration with AWSN is about more than education – it's about creating a pipeline of skilled professionals who can actively contribute to the cybersecurity ecosystem.

The future of cybersecurity requires a diverse and dynamic talent pool, and our efforts help to ensure that Australia remains at the forefront of global cyber innovation.

Meet our scholarship recipients

We're excited to introduce the talented women who are shaping the future of cybersecurity with the help of our AWSN x Stone & Chalk scholarships. Each of these recipients is taking bold steps toward innovation, leadership, and impact in the industry.

"Having a space where the team can communicate and work alongside each other is an amazing experience."

The significance of diversity in cybersecurity

Diversity in cybers ecurity is more important than most people realise.

Right now, the industry has a serious gender gap, especially when it comes to women. And that means we’re overlooking a lot of potential. New ideas and perspectives often come from unexpected places, and a more diverse workforce could be exactly what cybersecurity needs to break through its current challenges.

At Stone & Chalk, we’re working to change this. Our AWSN x Stone & Chalk scholarships, aren’t just about funding. They’re about creating real opportunities for women in cybersecurity. These scholarships open doors to mentorship, resources, and networks that can fast-track someone's career.

But it’s not just about individual success. When we invest in diverse talent, we help build stronger, more innovative teams.

Cyber security is evolving fast, and we need leaders who can think differently and solve problems in ways we haven’t yet considered. That’s why supporting women and other underrepresented groups is essential for the industry’s future.

By building a more inclusive environment, we’re helping to shape the next wave of leaders who will tackle the big issues in cybersecurity with fresh eyes and bold ideas.

If you're a startup or founder looking to make an impact in the emerging tech industry, join our supportive community that values resilience, diversity, and innovation and how we can help you go further, faster.
