Stone & Chalk, Australia’s preeminent Fintech Hub, and Insurtech Sydney Meet Up Group are proud to announce the first Insurtech dedicated pitch fest. We are committed to building greater connections between the insurance and startup sectors.

Five insurance specific problem statements have been developed by an industry working group. Start ups from Australia and abroad are asked to pitch their solutions to these industry problems.

A selection of the best applications will pitch their solutions to insurance executives at the ANZIIF Insurtech Conference on 28 March 2017.

Problem Statements

Advanced Underwriting Models

Connected devices have paved the way to collect real-time information. We’re looking for solutions to enable insurers to reshape predictive models & integrate information into pricing, underwriting, loss forecasting

User-friendly Disclosure Statements

Innovative technology approaches to make inaccessible Product Disclosure Statments easier to read and meet regulatory requirements.

Underinsured

Customer engagement is often limited to policy quotes, customer acquisition, contract renewal and claims. We need tools to assist consumers and businesses understand their insurance needs, inform them of what to cover and the appropriate limits.

Automated Claims Processing

The claiming insurance is often confusing and time consuming for claimants, and labour intensive and costly for insurers. We’re looking for customer experience driven technology to automate the claims process.

Fraud

Tech solutions to gather, standardize and analyse data across multi-products lines for fraudulent behaviour analysis and facilitate data sharing between insurers

Competition Details

Format

Pitches will be a max of 4 minutes long.

Judges will have 5 minutes to ask questions

Who can apply

All ideas and startup businesses are welcome to submit an application for participation in the Pitch Fest, whether your idea is at the concept stage, in pilot or in the market. We welcome innovations from around Australia, and every submission has the same chance of winning.

The concepts / ideas pitched by the teams should be original

How to apply

All applications to be made on line and must be submitted by March 5th

Applications require:

1. A two minute pitch video (the video can be simple and to the point. Fancy  graphics etc are not required. We are interested in your ideas not your video skills)

2. Completed application form

Judging & Evaluation Criteria

  • Understanding the problem and its context in the insurance business
  • Feasibility of the solution
  • Innovation, originality and creativity in the solution
  • Potential market value and acceptance
  • Assessment of skills, experience and quality of founders and team
  • Judges will be a select groups of representatives from the Insurance and Startup sectors

Intellectual Property

There may be concerns about intellectual property rights involved in competitions of this type.  The pitch organisers are not able to protect or advise on intellectual property rights.  The organisers do not take any responsibility for protecting intellectual property rights.  Non-disclosure or confidentiality agreements are not required from attendees to the ANZIIF Insure Tech Conference

There will be no transfer of IP during the competition. Intellectual property in all presentation remains with the applicant.

Other Rules

All travel and related expenses for participation in this pitch fest are the responsibility of the participants. Companies selected to pitch at the ANZIIF InsurTech conference will receive up to three complimentary tickets to the conference
